Isabelle Grue Lee

Isabelle Grue Lee is a self-taught artist from Vancouver, born and raised on the West Coast. Always interested in art making, she has played with multiple mediums in past but really embraced her collage work during the pandemic. Her work addresses color theory as well as the textural volume of a 2D image. Inspired by fashion she is interested in the contrasts and constrained proportions her pieces provide. Her work invites viewers to feel soothed in the sumptuous color, organic forms, and balance of the piece but often with an underlying edge of uneasiness from the ambiguity of the overall composition. During the many months of isolation and lock down, the meditative practice of assemblage not only gave Isabelle a place to find refuge but also allowed her to hone her skills as an artist.
