Ketty Zhang
Lives and works in Vancouver, BC
(b.1994, Chaoyang, China)
Ketty Zhang is an emerging artist who primarily works in painting, performative photography, installation and printed matter. Her practice is heavily influenced by her experience of living and working between China and Canada, with a current focus on topics including cultural assimilation, corporate culture and globalization. She often makes use of domestic objects and readymade materials, presenting snippets of her day to day experience through a diary-like approach and meditating on the multiple facets of her identity as a first-generation immigrant, an office worker and more. Her ongoing painting series of ‘elevator selfies’, for example, presents a modern-day limbo space that exists between the different roles we play in our lives.
